During the weighing for GPP 10 ("The Proving Grounds")
there was an error made. Mark Christianson weighed in at 156 lbs. The number got transposed when it was transferred to the fight memos and read 165lbs. Marks originally scheduled opponent was a no show.
Adam Diehl was waiting in reserve to fight and weighed in at 172. Adam left and cut the weight to 169lbs making the 5lb catch weight. GPP allows the fight when the two opponents are within 5 lbs of each other. The fighters both agreed to fight and the competition went on. At this point our card read Mark Christianson at 165lbs vs. Adam Diehl at 169lbs.
The fight was action packed and both fighters fought honorably for three rounds taking it to the judges. The decision went to Adam Gailes in the end and GPP would like to congratulate him on defeating a very game opponent.
Likewise GPP would like to thank Mark Christianson for the great show he put on even with the big weight disadvantage. GPP would also like to apologize to Mark for placing him in that position. We would like to say thanks for the level of professionalism Mark displayed after the error was discovered and for fighting without excuses. We are not recording a loss on Marks record due to the disadvantaged position he was in. Adams record will reflect the win but rest assured that Mark made him earn it!
Fighter safety is always important to GPP and we are taking steps to make sure this can not happen again.
